Girls’ Last Tour Episodes 7+8: Finding Joy in Ruins

Episode 7 didn’t have much to talk about but episode 8…a little bit more I’d say.

Episode 7 had our heroines finding their way through a rations facility Ishii told them about. After some perils and discussions about whether it was better to follow a straightforward line through life or be daring and take a riskier route to your destination. The episode culminated with our duo being adorable and having fun baking. Good stuff. On to episode 8.

Stuff found in drawers.jpg

Stuff found in “drawers”.

Our heroines rode past very large rows of “drawers”. Some were open and Yuuri picked up whatever was inside. Chito wondered what the point was of keeping such “useless” knick knacks but Yuuri thought they might come in handy at some point.

Another “god” statue.

Yuuri saw another one of those “god” statues and took pictures. Chito told her how much she liked taking pictures of the statues and told her to thank Mr Kanazawa, who Yuuri had already forgotten. The two brought up how the camera will help them remember him and when they brought up Ishii they wondered if they would eventually forget the two due to the odds of them meeting again were incredibly low. Chito then figured out the “drawers” were GRAVES and the “knick-knacks” were the final memories of the deceased. The two did their best to put the items in the right graves off-screen,

Spiral Tower.

Next up our heroines climbed a spiral tower and talked about how the drive was monotonous and it didn’t feel like they weren’t getting any higher. This in led them to ponder whether their regular days felt mundane or not. Something like that anyway”.

Surviving Unstable footing.jpg

“How can you live life if you’re afraid of dying?” -Yuuri, 2017

Yuuri told Chito the above “quote of the year” contender (Great advice for people afraid to leave their homes knowing that the world is a very dangerous place) when they reached a dead end and brought it up again when pushing her to cross an unstable alternate route with their vic. Luckily they made it okay to the other side.

Beer bottles.

At the highest point of the tower the girls went to a storage room, or maybe a bar/school/church or whatever and found some beer. I like how more often than not, for comedic purposes, Japan isn’t afraid of depicting adolescents or teenagers accidentally drinking alcoholic beverages in anime/manga.

What came next was a drunk Chito giving YuuChi shippers plenty to work with.

Totally absolutely positively a deleted scene from episode 7:

    (While going down a ladder)
Chi, from above: Don’t look up my skirt.
    Yuu: What’s a skirt?
Chi: I don’t know, but it’s something you say on ladders.

    (later, different ladder)
Yuu, from below: Don’t look up my skirt.
    Chi: I’m above you.
    Yuu: So?

I wonder if there was more in those drawers that got raided before Chi and Yuu arrived.

There’s a big spiral thing in the opening credits. I’ll have to watch it again after the series is over to see if it follows there journey somewhat.

I’d like to know how and why the outside path was built instead of an inside repair job.

Whatever that room was, it had a charging video game handheld in it that looked kinda like a DS/3DS.

Yuu is definitely some kind of werewolf.

Chi is a horny drunk, and has learned what a hangover is.

The dialogue on the spiral had an interesting reveal: They’re not just wandering, they’re specifically going to the top of the city for a reason.

      Nice scene there.

      Yuuri is a strange being.

Chito unsurprisingly cares deeply for Yuuri deep down.

Hopefully we’ll find out what it is they’re looking for.

The first half of ep 8 got pretty feelsy, them finding all those graves and talking about memories and such. It really makes me wonder if this show will suddenly drop reality on us and we’ll get the big picture of what’s really going on. Part of me is scared for that to happen, but at the same time I’m interested in learning more about this world and what’s happening with it. Whether or not that happens, Girls Last Tour continues to be a charming, if not slightly haunting show this season. It’s beautiful at times, sad at others, it’s got fun moments, and scary moments, but at the end of each ep I love it more and more.

Oh yes. It’s an iyashikei show set in a gloomy environment. I feel like this episode’s subtitle of mine best describes the show: finding joy in ruins.
Hopefully our heroines will keep on chugging till Heaven calls them and not before.

Ho lawd! The moment when their alternate route collapsed almost made my heart stopped (I’m too scared of heights) but thankfully, they both made it.

I guess all it takes for Chito to show her true feelings for Yuu is by a little hint of alcohol, wonder what will happen when they find even more alcohol ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Their dance together under the moonlight has to be one of the gayest yuri scene this season, gotta appreciate that.

They’ve had several close calls with high places. Thank goodness they’re alright.

Yup. Chito cares about Yuuri a lot, and really likes her hair.

I’ll have to look up other shows before coming to that conclusion.

I knew they were gonna find alcohol sooner or later. There have to be alcohol in that place. Yuuri seemed find with alcohol. Just being her usual self. But Chito, omg she was so cute! Yuuri definitely wants to see drunk Chito again.

OMG, they were freaking adorable drunks! I was seriously scared they would fall off the edge while they were dancing though. I was a bit tense under my pleased grins. This show never disappoints.

    absolutely astonishing episodes
am very pleased with the everything, especially the parts with stuff and things
my brain is telling me that something definitely happened offscreen at the end of episode 8, what, I don’t know, but it probably involved high-impact homosexual behavior

The laughter that turned into a song or melody at the end of episode 8 was one of the most fascinating things i have witnessed this season. It caught me completely off-guard and was so heartwarming that it made me feel warm and fuzzy inside. Really well done and so beautiful.

Drunk Chito was enjoyable and that drunken waltz under the moon was fun to watch. In a way, Yuuri’s right about the insanity essence of the moon melting into the beer, seeing as drinking lots of it can make some persons flip out in various ways.

I wonder, if they reach another tower, will those two suffer another near-death experience? Poor Chito if that’s the case.
