There were some big scenes throughout the episode…and then there was the blockbuster.
The first big moment we’re going to highlight is the resolution between Nene and Tsubame.
We kicked off with Tsubame finishing her work really fast and smugly rubbing it in Nene’s face. Tsubame still looked down on Nene for not taking things super seriously. She was then surprised when Nene spotted some issues with her code. Sensing things were getting tense with Tsubame she excused herself to the cafeteria.
Nene spotted Momo and took the opportunity to ask her about what kind of person Tsubame was. She started off by saying how cool, laid back and cheerful she was. She noticed Nene sulking and then pretty much told Ko (who also showed up for a break) and her Tsubame’s backstory. Tsubame’s parents run an inn at Hokkaido and she’s set to inherit it. However, she wanted to work in the video game industry. Her parents were very much against it. She kept on pushing until they let her go for it but the catch being they wouldn’t support her financially. Basically Tsubame’s goal was to get a job in the video game industry and prove her parents she could make it on her own by following her dreams. Momo of course left out the other important reason Tsubame was working so hard but I’m sure Tsubame will tell her when the time is right.
Momo was then curious about whether Aoba followed a similar path as her to get into Eagle Jump. Nene then technically repaid her for helping clear things regarding Tsubame by telling her about Aoba and Hotaru. Basically Hotaru’s mad artistic skills influenced Aoba to follow her own dreams. As we all know Hotaru went to a different college than Nene and Aoba. It was sad parting ways but they agreed that they would still be together in spirit by working hard on their dreams. These words had an effect on Ko.
Umiko-kun then called Nene over for an important meeting. Turns out all of Tsubame work up till now was riddled with bugs. Tsubame had lost all hope but thanks to Nene’s big heart they worked together and BOTH got extensions in their contracts. Nene TECHNICALLY got the praise she yearned for so all was well for them.
Before we get to what I want to discuss in detail let’s cover another lighthearted segment.
How Umiko-kun best described Tsubame and Nene.
While discussing their respective kouhai Umiko-kun discussed with Ko how she should try and get more involved with guiding them. Yes, there’s Hifumi and others who could help them but Ko WAS both Aoba and Momo’s inspiration so she could at least instill the two, especially Momo, with words of wisdom. She then invited Ko and the rest of the graphics team to playtest the game. Momo “won” the opportunity to play the game in front of everyone, much to her embarrassment. From what we got to see I’d love to play a real version of PECO.
Highlights include the addition of the Cannibal Bear tribe, created by Aoba.
At some point Ko asked Aoba what it was like seeing her designs come to life. Aoba of course was overjoyed but most importantly was thankful for getting to work with such amazing brahs and her future purple haired spouse.
Ko gave the two ladies words of encouragement and this was how Momo saw her. Yet another cutie turned on by unintentionally seductive woman who prefers sleeping without pants.
Now for the serious part of the episode. Remember last time where Ko was acting all strange. Turns out she’s considering quitting Eagle Jump. My best guess is she feels there’s not much else left for her to contribute to the company. She pointed out to both Umiko-kun and Christina that there were already many great employees who already had everything covered. As the above image showed Rin overheard Ko telling Christina the bad news. What will she do? We’ll find out next time.
Okay so here’s the thing. What I’m hoping for with all my heart is for Rin to be the one to ultimately convince Ko to stay since it’s highly unlikely she’s leaving. People who read the manga, NOT ONE WORD! Okay so back to Rin. I personally feel that of all the ladies on the show Rin was the one who stood out the least this season. Other than fawning over Ko and helping out here and there she has had the no standout moments to speak of. This is it. Her last chance to have that one moment to shine. Of course I’d want her to confess her love for Ko but I don’t think the writers want to do that just yet. The last thing I want is for Aoba or Momo to be the one to convince her to stay. Aoba because it’s too predictable and Momo because she hasn’t really had any “squee” moments with Ko other than that one seductive glance.
All I’m saying is it would be a shame for Rin to not have a defining moment the entire season. I truly hope this will be it.
All told, I love Rin and Ko and will be extremely disappointed if they don’t confess in the next episode. I can’t say I’m expecting it to happen but it will feel like a major ball being dropped if they don’t given how they’ve set everything up.
As for Ko leaving. As much as I love her, I think it may be better if she does leave. That would just feel appropriate to me, especially within the accelerated game development world of the show. Outside of her own personal development and just looking at it within the context of the show, the New Game is already feeling a little crowded, especially with the addition of the new girls this season. As it stands we already see very little of most of the cast.

We have to get something.
I know some more people who feel this way.

100 % agree. This NEEDS to be a Rin defining moment, where she will tell Ko just how important she is to the company and her and that she doesn’t want to be there without her. She needs to convince her that she’s invaluable to their company and everyone still needs her, not just Rin herself. It would be a nice confession opportunity as well, but I don’t think the writers will go there yet either, but I believe it’ll happen in due time. There’s no way Ko is actually going to leave Eagle Jump, I just can’t believe it to be possible. I just hope it will be Rin to make her stay rather than any of the others.
The rest of the episode was great and I’m happy Tsubame and Nene worked out their differences. Peco really does look like an awesome game that I’d play if it were real too. Same as Faeries Story 3 from season 1. The creators should seriously consider making these games a thing. I think they’d have great success and pull in more revenue to support a new season, which I pray we’ll get. Looking forward to seeing how the next episode and how the conflict is resolved.

That’s what I’m hoping for.
Yup. good to see them work things out.
I’d happily buy both FS3 and PECO.

It was great to see Nene and Tsubame’s rivalry come to a head. Tsubame learned a valuable lesson and Nene got to look cool in front of her Bae. Umiko can be really devious.
We also found out that there is SOMETHING HORRIBLY WRONG WITH AOBA!!!! And Hifumi is really turned on by that. You know, we never see Aoba’s father. If he really were a demon, that would make Aoba an actual succubus!
I think Ko wants to reach her full potential, however, Rin just wants to keep her close. They could solve this problem by moving in together.

Indeed.
More hype for the destined confrontation between Demon Aoba and Full Power Cosplayer Hifumi, which we will one day hopefully get to see.
I just hope Rin’s the one to change Ko’s life for the better.

I’m glad Nene and Naru made up and are back to being instant besties. I had a feeling they would once Naru saw Nene had earned her position, and wasn’t just sleeping with the boss. Naru had better learn the importance of beta testing from now on.
Umiko is right on with Nene and Naru.
Momo needs to stop crushing on people who aren’t Naru.
I’m not sure where I stand on the whole Ko thing. She has competition for her character design role at Eagle Jump, and they’re a small developer, so she won’t get much time for her dream job, but moving to a new company means leaving the show. Eagle Jump expanding would limit screen time for everyone involved, and there’s already a lack of Hifumi right now… Ack!

Glad to see it was resolved peacefully.
That she is.
She’ll lead Momo on the right path when the time comes.
I doubt Ko leaving the cast will change much in terms of screen time for the others..

It’s exactly the resolution I expected after the whole thing started. Naru was instant besties with Nene at the newbie dinner, then mortal enemies after Nene poorly explained her reasons for wanting to be a programmer. Once she saw Nene’s skills, she realized her mistake and started encouraging Nene subtly, but had a hard time apologizing.
Ko leaving would not, but a sudden staff expansion that allowed Eagle Jump to work on two games at a time, and allowing Ko to stay would have a definite impact. It’s not very likely, but it’s the best reason I can think of for her to stay. Rin’s conversation is likely to end with both of them leaving.

Only a while ago I was hyped for the S2, but time has passed so quickly that I’m already going to miss New Game!!
It was nice that all the characters have got their fair share of screentime (maybe except Rin as you mention, but she should in the next ep).
For me, Nenecchi has now become my top favourite, and rightfully so due to her having developed to a great extent.

Time flies when you’re having fun.
Hopefully she will.
Nene got plenty of time to shine, that’s for sure.

Not one word sir! I still don’t know what happens tho, manga and anime are really nose to nose. I do hope Rin works her yuri magic and makes Ko stay and they can have a super fluffy cute moment together, we need more of those!!!! ❤
Loved Naru in this one too.

What’s wrong with the picture of lovely background ladies? Well, there’re no lovely background ladies like that at my programming team… in fact, there’re no ladies here at all 😅

It really is a sad state of affairs for Rin when it’s come to the point where (for me) even Hifumi is a better match for Kou. No real justification, close to no screen time and now Momiji is getting the hots too. This is her moment and she better make it count.
Actually, as far as convincing Kou to stay, I think Momiji is a very strong candidate. I can imagine Kou looking at her and seeing more than just a little bit of herself in her. Imagining her going through what she went through might be one of many good reasons for her to stay in the company, so she can guide Momiji along and prevent Aoba from being hurt the way Kou almost hurt her during the concept art competition. I know the author doesn’t have the guts (or need) to add conflict that goes deeper than Narumi and Nene’s, but I can definitely imagine Momiji leaving a dent on the design team’s current working environment.
I only hope the title of the next episode review isn’t “trust and betrayal”.

I hope the next episode changes their air time! (People familiar with anime will know what I mean by that).

Looks like the game’s coming along nicely. Also, of course the cannibal bears were a product of Aoba’s imagination!
Hearing Narumi’s backstory, I understand why she’s the way she is. However, her rush to produce results almost caused things to go belly-up. With Nene’s help however, they were able to turn things around. With that, the tension between them significantly died down. Awesome! By the way, it was seeing the background programmers’ faces. I thought they were going to remain faceless forever.
Ko’s planning on leaving Eagle Jump. With the way things were going, I am not surprised she would do that. She feels that she needs to spread her wings since her old positions are held by very reliable people now, leaving her with not much to do. If she does leave for greener pastures, she should at least try to motivate Aoba and Momiji more than she ever did since, you know, she’s the reason why they’re both at Eagle Jump to begin with. Rin found out and is in anguish over this, however. Will she get a chance to convince Ko to stay? It’s gonna be interesting, to say the least.

Her mind and heart aren’t as pure as we thought long ago.
It was cool seeing Nene and Tsubame patch things up and the background ladies get their five seconds of fame.
Looking forward to seeing what Rin will do.
