OG’s Fall 2017 Anime Picks

It’s that time again where I announce the shows I plan on watching. As always plans may change based on what happens throughout a season.

NOTE: Midway there’s a poll regarding Washio sumi’s coverage. Please vote to help decide how best to cover the first half of Yuki Yuna 2.

Fall 2017 Watchlist.jpg

Thanks go to Dim-chan for the compilation

Shows picked based on the following two charts:

Konohana Kitan: Omega-kawaii country fox girl protagonist working at an inn alongside other cute and sexy fox girls. Based on what I heard about the manga some of the girls are in a relationship together so there’s some fluffy yuri to anticipate.

Love Live! Sunshine!! 2: Best believe I am beyond hyped for the return of The Perfect One and the rest of Aqours. They started off emulating Muse, to the dismay of some but they slowly found their own path to greatness. Very excited to see how they do finding said greatness and of course I’m hoping the established yuri goodness will continue being as strong as it was last time.

Yuki Yuna wa Yuusha de Aru 2: So the season will be divided in two parts: The first six episodes will cover the Washio Sumi prequel story and the other six episodes will be follow events after the end of the first season. Before we continue I have a question for fans. What would you all prefer:

1: That I review the three movies before episode 7 airs.

2: Review each episode weekly.

Vote for the preferred coverage option below.

Two-Car: We already have two bicycle Girls Club anime so it’s only for there to be two motorcycle Girls Club anime. Two-Car will soon join Bakuon!! as the second motorcycle show.

Urahara: I have no idea what to expect in all honesty but I’m so intrigued by the concept that I definitely want to check it out and cover it.

Wake-Up Girls! Shin Shou: I really enjoyed the first season (still have to watch the sequel movies) so I’m pumped for more. I’ll make sure to cover the second season since I didn’t do so for the first.

Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryokou/Girls’ Last Tour: Sounds like a very intriguing post-apocalyptic show starring two girls. Good enough for me.

Yama no Susume: Omoide no Present OVA: I’ll definitely talk about the OVA “appetizer” that will prepare us for the upcoming third season next year.

Himouto Umaru-chan R and the Cinderella Girls shorts: I don’t think I’ll be covering these weekly. If Umaru-chan R is as good or better than the first season in terms of yuri content then it too will get a G-View.

  • Anime-Gataris
  • Blend S
  • Kino’s Journey 2

I don’t know if I’ll be covering any of these but I’ll see if they’re worth my time.

Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryokou/Girls’ Last Tour is based on the original pitch for SORA NO WOTO.

You really need to watch the movies. They’re actual sequels, so you’ll be left quite out of touch if you don’t watch those before the second season (In regards to WuG)

Not able to think enough to produce my own list right now. I’ll get to that later

Definitely looking forward to Sunshine. I’m hoping that someone will break the limits of subtext this season.

Girls’ Last Tour is a fun series I stumbled onto not too long ago. I didn’t see much in the way of subtext thus far, but the two characters are very shipable.

I am looking so much for Sunshine as well.

Also, on side note, is it me or Dia and Ruby seem more and more closer each time they are seen? Lot of fan has said that they are our guilty pleasure.

Overall, I will be looking for more cute DiaRuny and DiaMari (and maybe YohaRiko) moments for this second season.

    Have a nice day 😀

Also, I will be giving these others a try as well.

Oh, what’s the non-Minami Kamukura girls bicycle club anime?

The Washio Sumi movies were excellent. It’s theorised that the series will probably cut down and censor some things from the movies, so I’d definitely recommend watching them.

Other than the obvious YuYuYu, looks like a pretty good season! Girls’ Last Tour in particular sounds rather interesting, and Konohana Kitan sounds really nice.

Konohana and Sunshine are going to be great. Period. I refuse to accept anything other than that.

Sad about no Citrus though. I mean, I’d rather they take their time and get it right.. but I want it now! lol

“Two Car” looks like a nice, new and unknown show. For some reason, I think the capture of the two girls looks kind of Yuri. 😀

If it could at least match the level of most Yuri CGDCT shows, I’d be pretty happy!

I’ll get to my own list soon. Aqours and WUG are on my top list. I recommend you to watch WUG movies first. I’m super hyped about WUG. With the new studio and creators, I hope they’ll bring something even more good. Especially with the shipping.

About Washio Sumi either one is fine by me.

  11. I will be covering all 12 episodes of Yuki Yuna on my blog, but they won’t be Reviews per say.

In general my attempts to predict in advance what shows I want to watch don’t turn out well.

  12. Ahhh yes, was wondering when you’d ask this question.

Personally, I think you should watch the Washio Sumi films first. But I can’t really see too much censorship or content being cut from the TV broadcast recut, though the creators have said the two versions of the adaptation will be slightly different from one another (but no less gay and awesome). I would love to see you cover the TV version weekly as well, but its no big deal if you don’t.

As for what I’m watching this season yuri wise, I’m in the same boat as you. Konohana Kitan, Love Live! Sunshine, Two Car, Girls Last Tour, Yama no Susume OVA, and idk, maybe Animegataris as well though I don’t know much about it. Think Urahara slipped by me on my list, but I guess I can go back and see if its worthwhile. I’d love to watch Kino no Tabi as well, but I need to see the earlier series first. No idea if I’ll get around to that anytime soon.

I’m not sure how much I’ll be able to watch this season what with school and work and all, but at least I have no morning classes this semester and YuYuYu and Sunshine are on the weekends. So we’ll play it by year for sure. Looks to be a good season overall though, I’m quite excited for it!

  13. Nick says:

Of course I’m really hyped for Love Live Sunshine, but Two Car has caught my eye as it looks rather interesting. I mean the last anime about girls and motorbikes was quite good (especially that bike washing scene). Also Girls’ Last Tour looks like it could be some emotional feelsy drama, which I’m down for, but yeah it also has my attention.

I’m still a bit conflicted with Yuki Yuna though. I mean I watched S1 and at the time liked it (I gave it a 9/10), but over time it started to leave a bad aftertaste for me. I don’t know it’s hard to really put into words, but as of right now I’m not sure if I’ll watch it or not. Plus I think there were a couple movies that came out which I might need to watch first as well. Either way, I’ll see how I’m feeling about this show when October rolls around but as of right now it’s not on my list.

Lastly Wake Up, Girls! is a show I watched and liked. Probably my favorite story driven idol show as it’s not all cute and bubbly like iM@S or Love Live, but it’s a bit more real and has lots of drama too. I liked that aspect of it and even if Love Live still is my favorite idol show, WUG excelled for telling the better story. One thing though, I just hope it doesn’t suffer from terrible animation. I can vaguely remember the S1 finale having animation trouble during their big performance and yeah it just really detracted from the overall experience of the show. Throughout it all, that was my one huge issue with it, terrible animation. So I’m assuming that’s going to be different come this new show. I’m also wondering if I need to see the movies before jumping into this. I think there are a couple but like with all anime movies on my list, I rarely get around to watching them. So I might be a little late to this entry of WUG as I’d want to watch the movies first as I don’t want to be out of the loop from S2.

Good post and I’m looking forward to the fall season next month! I know over on Anime Corps we need to get together and figure out what’s happen in the way of reviews. You can expect me to be writing about Love Live though, that I can tell you for certain.

      Sunshine 2 will be GLORIOUS!

Two-Car and Girls’ Last Tour both look interesting.

I feel similarly about Meduca after the 2nd viewing as you do with YuYuYu.

I’ll watch the movies before WUG 2’s premiere.

I’ll definitely check out your combined Fall picks post and your personal Sunshine 2 coverage.
