YMC #65: What Does The Fox Say? (NSFW)

UPDATE: Solution for English translation seekers down below.

Somehow I was able to get caught up with this story and I am here now to tell the nation whether it is worth the effort of Googling how to read it or not. This is the online Korean Manhwa/Webtoon What Does The Fox Say?

What Does The Fox Say Cover

WARNING! The following review contains an image not safe for work.

Genres: Drama, Office Lady, Adult Life, Love Triangle, Romance, Yuri, NSFW

Number of chapters: 32 (ongoing)

Plot Summary: Sumin manages a group of game developers at Hello studio. This a story about her romantic affairs.

First things first. Before approaching this title do keep in mind that it kind of has a slow, steamy start. By this I mean it takes some chapters before getting an idea what the three main ladies are like. Until then it is two adult woman and a young adult stuck in a lusty web.

The story is about a love triangle between two 34 year old women, Sung Sumin and Baek Seju, and a 24 year old newcomer to the company Ju Sung-ji. It is the classic adult tale of a couple with relationship problems and the new blood that grabs the attention of one of the two. That is the initial setup. As the story progresses random flashbacks showing why the two ladies’ once deep relationship began falling apart are revealed and Sung-ji is shown to be much more than a “Mei” from her introduction. In short a steamy adult telenovela starring lesbians featuring more lesbians and some guys filling the roles of exposition regarding details about the gaming company the cast work in.

Sung Ji and Sumin

As this is a three woman show it is best to dedicate the rest of the review talking about them. Before the flashbacks and character fleshing the trio are depicted as such. “Team Manager” Sumin is a serious and grumpy lady who only gives her peers attention when necessary and no more than that. Most of the time she avoids getting chummy with anyone but the other two leads. Sung-Ji as previously mentioned debuts as a “Mei” but occasionally shows more than one facial expression and can smile: A cold beauty who is actually a puppy. Lastly there is Baek Seju, a smiling and approachable beauty at work who hides her real thoughts behind a fake smile and only opens up in front of Sumin. Being that this is an adult story none of the three ladies are saints, not even the “puppy” despite being the least naughty.

This story so far is not one of coming out or accepting one’s self, it is more a story about finding one’s happiness and acceptable other, which for one is more difficult than others because of what one went through.

Sumin face

Been a while since I saw a non-Western comic use regular eyes so the art style in WDTFS is most pleasant, especially in “those” scenes. I especially have a thing for Sumin’s “trying to look concerned” expression shown here. It always looks like she’s saying “huh?” rather than “huh”. It amuses me.

What Does the Fox Say sex scene

As for the yuri, a comic strip speaks a thousand words. I may not have a favorite character as all three are what they are, I will proudly pick Baek Seju as being the sexiest of the three and the one whose body I find the most stimulating. For those thinking there is a sex scene in every chapter, no there is not. There are several but they do not pop up at a rapid pace. Of course are all well drawn and steamy as mentioned above.

Overall What Does The Fox Say is a steamy adult drama that is not amazing but if one can find a way to read it it is hard to put down depending on how tolerant the reader is of adult problems and sexual content. The older women are both charming and irritating but not detestable. Sung-Ji starts off as a “Mei” but becomes an adorable puppy. The art style is pleasant to the eyes and the sex scenes get the job done down below. An intriguing read for viewers who find a way to do so.

I forgot where there are English chapters but for Spanish fluent readers it is an easy find.

For nation members who use Facebook, there is a way to read English translations. Join the WDTFS fanpage by clicking here. Hope you are accepted. Then go to Files. Done. I still highly suggest supporting the original version any way you can.

Having a lot of difficulty finding it in English, so it’s times like these that I’m so happy to have minored in Spanish and that I can read those translations which I did find easily as you said. I will definitely be checking this out soon, it looks great so far.

I’ve been wanting to read this for a while; the art is amazing !! Maybe it’s worth trying the Spanish translation (even though I’m nowhere near fluent) since the English one is impossible to find (I think only the first chapter is available ? and it was so good, I needed MORE, but for legal reasons, the others weren’t translated). ANYWAY, great article !

There is an English version but it requires overtooning to get the translations. The first chapter is on dynasty scans along with an accompanying tutorial explaining how to get it to work on English. I will say if you do that, make sure the account settings in lehzin are for Korean and not Japanese. I wasted some a little bit of cash with that mistake.

Might be good to have a copy even if it did not have an English translation.
