Not to be confused with Kanamemo, Kanamewo is a 5 minute silent short about a (I’m guessing) 17-18 year old woman and a 700 year old tree goddess named Kukoamenoduchimikoto. Try saying that five times fast. Since it is being talked about here, take a wild guess what happens…
Thanks to my always reliable cameraman for finding this video.

In my years as an avid watcher of all things animated I have seen Rattrap X Botanica and Tails X Cosmo so a “Normal X Grass/Ghost (or maybe Fairy) Type” union is nothing new.
Tails x Cosmo was cute :P.

Point being a usually organic being falling in love with a plant being is nothing new to me. Also I agree on TXC having been cute.

…I knew “tree-hugging”, but this is taking it to a whole new level 😛
That out of my system: I do enjoy shorts, that manage to tell an emotional story within such short time. And I don’t mind if they are kinda “outta there”, as long they are sensible in their own right. Even if it may take a somewhat open mind to gain a feeling for any meaning or interpretation.
The tune was somewhat uneasy to listen to, yet artistically I kinda like how it mashes and clashes in the same churning manner the visual story rushes through a cascade of emotional themes. Kinda like a memory…
Not a bad find. Thanks for sharing / relaying.

Their love is real from the looks it.
Especially when it got really loud but yeah it fit the story so it can be forgiven.

Well that was a first for me…It’s nice but hated the fact that the tree died sort of (?)
But overall, it’s a nice story 🙂

She most likely came back after her girlfriend planted her in that new location. That tree’s her, meaning a new blue body.

So many feels in such a short amount of time, the ending was really sweet too <3.
i personally wouldn’t mind an extended story/manga/anime version of this.

That it was.
The story was simple enough to not need an extension or continuation.

Hopefully there’s an epilogue or a sequel
That ending really pulled my heartstrings badly

Nah. It doesn’t need one. It was clear they got back together after the tree grew back.

I guess
A confirmation by the author of it would be great though

It’s one of those endings where the lead’s reaction is all that’s needed.

Just watched this and it was heartwarming and tearjerking. I hope we get to see more of this even it is unlikely.

Would be nice but unnecessary. What we got was good enough.

the guitar rifts in the middle were not that fun

Glad to see it got a short sequel as an ONA, but I still don’t understand why they made the loli boss a tree spirit and why Haruka’s hair isn’t blue anymore.

It was kind of beautiful in a way it was a realistic fantasy of sorts. In the end she had to go back to her roots(no pun intended) She even came back to see her as a tree.
Btw this reminds me of if skins was a anime.

this show gives me a strangely unsettling feeling while watching. I think it’s interesting, and has effective presentation. I like it!

That was kinda the point. Obvious whining about the music aside (People repeating it time and again has become redundant) it was wonderful.

It felt unsettling at first, I was really surprised when their relationship went from emotional to physical, but I quickly got over it and as it went on from that point I felt suffocated by sadness, even as the mc smiled with hope at the end.
I really liked the music, how it represented their bond.
This really gave me feels, it was a great work.
I ended up watching it 4 times, thanks for sharing

I LIKED the music a lot. Weird how it did seem like a mom and daughter but then nope. Well she is actually a 500 year old goddess/tree spirit and while this trope is often made fun of it’s a little strange to see it in action. I kinda want to watch it again but kinda not since it made me anxious.
