4 Million Views Celebration

And to think I initially thought it would take me this long (4 years) to get 1-2 million views.

Team Gaydere

Team Gaydere for future women’s wrestling tag team champions.

A wise (but sometimes angry) Youtube wrestling personality, Dalyxman, once said that there are four kinds of people in life:

  • People who like you and will support you all the way.
  • People who initially didn’t think much of you but eventually warmed up to you.
  • People who initially liked you but lost interest over time.
  • People who don’t like you and only want to see you fail.

Over the years as a blogger and in real life I knew at least one of each of these kinds of people. As I stated many times there are people I can get along with and others I cannot. All I can do is keep going forward, doing my best and make sure the people who do support me have good reason to continue doing so. If I get more supporters in the process, cool.

I initially planned on celebrating this accomplishment by posting a video revealing myself and thanking everyone for the continued support and just running my mouth talking about yuri or whatever else I felt like discussing. Let’s be honest though, none of you out there are my fans because you want to meet me in person. You back me up because of my passion and dedication to supporting, promoting and reveling animation and comics featuring stories about women falling in love with each other, both of the subtext and canonical variety.

Utena beach

Dunno how many ways there exist out there to thank everyone who continues coming to me for their dose of yuri goodness and some who even spread the word of my “teachings”, reactions and other fun stuff I do that miraculously get chuckles once in a while. So yeah thanks again and here’s to many more years of spreading yuri love worldwide. The Yuri Nation’s growth, both the yuri fanbase and my blog will continue growing in the hopes that one day there will be no shortage or rarity of anime about women openly loving one another and through many trials and tribulations succeeding or losing in a fair fight rather than get screwed over.

As usual I won’t make any promises about change or new additions to the blog due to my lack of punctuality or money to hire new staff so all I can say is stay tuned for more Yuri Nation goodness.

Oh and I also got 1000 Tumblr followers. Dunno how that happened. My not having reached 1000 Twitter followers yet makes sense because I hardly do anything there except rant about wrestling and OCCASIONALLY comment about a show I’m watching or interested in.

I am curious about how you look like though. Congrats on the 4 million views, I was delighted and initiated in serious manga reading thanks to your list, also I got to know a lot of awesome anime titles thanks to you, I discarded my prejudices and enjoyed a lot and I keep on doing it, thank you.

  2. the_elevator_man says:

Sheesh, wasn’t it just a couple months ago that it was 3 million? Congrats nonetheless. One of the strongest yuri blogs, an easy read, and one of the few ones worth browsing. Keep it up and grats again.

  3. Maro says:

Congratulations on the 4 million views, OG-man! And thank you for all the fantastic reviews of yours.
Your blog posts are fun to read even for anime-beginners, and multiple good points are brought up for every show.
I hope you keep up good work with your blogging!

  4. Nick says:

Congrats on 4 million views! That’s quite the milestone to reach. I’ll keep following you as you’ve got some great content here. Keep up the good work!

    News for you:
a “girls club” (literally) anime “Long Riders! Cycling” manga is getting an anime adaption.

Plus a summer Tokyo Art Cultural Impact Analysis Exhibition with some interesting inclusion of Utena and multi-media anime/manga/game stuff and how its affected Japan. I might be able to get a look at it this summer.

    • Overlord-G says:

I know about the cycling girls show but I need trailers and a premiere date before discussing it.

If you’re able to go to the exhibition, enjoy it.

    congrats on an awesome milestone
and your post sounds cryptic for some reason like you want to say something more. Blogging is a thankless job but I do think thee experience is worth it. No regrets, right?
Also, never underestimate the power of yuri. XD
to four million more. raises beer

    • Overlord-G says:

Oh no mystery. I’m more of a “What you see is what you get” kind of person.
No regrets as I love what I do.
Yuri will continue reigning supreme long after my own reign comes to an end and that makes me happy.
      Here here good sir!

Congrats on the new milestone. I don’t pay attention too much to visitor counts since I already lost track due to resetting a few times, but I wish you luck in the future.

  8. Rei says:

That’s a lot! Congrats! I don’t think I could get that kind of number anytime soon lol

    • Overlord-G says:

It’s all luck based. I was lucky fans find the way I present yuri enjoyable. That’s the secret. Hope viewers like the way you present your content. Oh and I’d say promote yourself but you’re already doing that.

      • Rei says:

Yup it’s mostly about luck, but your level on consistency in writing everyday is what makes it alive. It’s alright, my problem has been on and off.. because I can’t find the time to write back then. There were fans, but they are mostly gone now because to level of the long hiatus. I had a good run as well back in 2012, it was great. Though my problem has always been getting more engagement despite having lots of traffic. Your site engagement is very great, I can’t get that kind of engagement even back in 2012. My site focus are too broad to begin with, yours are better since you narrow it down to yuri. For me to get those kind of stats again would mean the same level of consistency I built up around 2011 to 2012. Consistency is always the key for my blog. Keep at it and it will grow again. My goals aren’t that big anymore like back then, i’m fine as the way it is. It’s just something I like to do, posting thoughts about anime xD

      • Overlord-G says:

It’s cool. Do what you have to do and it will all work out in good time.
Also you are right about the consistency and fan interaction parts being a contributing factor to a blog’s success.

  9. yurimylove says:

Wow great job man! You’re hitting new million marks quicker and quicker it seems. And you shared some wise words about people and life in here too.

    • Overlord-G says:

Thanks for your continued support all these years my friend. Don’t see each other much but I’m glad to know you’ll always have my back.
Some of the people I meet in life are wise.

  10. The Otaku Judge says:

Congrats! That’s an amazing feat. No video exposing yourself to the readership? The mystery surrounding your identity continues.

  11. K says:

Wow. 4 million, already? This milestone was attained faster than the 3 million one, I think. Congrats, dude!
