Here’s an interesting show on my backlog that I finally got around to marathon and it had its fair share of potentially yurirific moments. However, I highly advise viewers who have yet to pick the show up to be careful should one choose to give the show a go. Find out more by reading my review here. For now let’s talk about the yuri pairing.
The ladies in question are the protagonist Sasami Tsukuyomi and one of the Yagami Sisters Kagami Yagami.
It is not until episode 5 where the vibes start showing themselves and it is also one of the better episodes as it is the first legit step in Sasami’s journey to socialize with people after overcoming one of many obstacles in her path to freedom and acceptance. Anyway the episode’s setup has Sasami wanting to make friends and the first person who came to mind is Kagami, a quiet, often sleepy and sharp tongued girl, because she’s in the same class but more importantly Kagami, along with her sisters, know a lot about Sasami so it would be easier to start with her and go from there. Mild comedy ensues with a nosedive to seriousness midway (a common trend in this show). After their bond is formed it is occasionally brought up every now and then with glorious results.
The truth about these girls and the show aside this picture summarizes what their relationship is like, provided one changes Kagami’s smile to a frown. She’s one of “those” kind of girls.
PS:
Alright. In fairness when this hottie makes her debut in the last quarter of the show, pay close attention. No matter what happens do not look away. Trust me.
Also do not read any of the comments lest you want to be spoiled.
Why are you leaving poor Edougawa out of this? The last couple of episodes were basically a fight based on the love triangle with her and Kagami…>.> I mean, I know she’s a futa, but still 😦

Because she was a last minute tsundere and a ploy to strengthen SasaKaga. Granted Edogawa was a contender so I’ll give her that. Also we both know the winky is not hers.
Okay I’ll include her in fairness. Besides, if it were hers, I’d still accept her because hermaphrodites count just as much as trans-females.

Hooray! I far preferred SasaKaga, but she really did give a strong fight.

Indeed.

Yay, this two were one of my favorite couples in 2013 specially after the episode 11 with the hug scene, and yes Edogawa was another very acceptable ship if we accept her ”different”

Added Edogawa to be fair. She was a contender I will give her that.

Will do and of course when finished do share your thoughts.

So just making sure first before I watch this, the yuri is all subtext right? Cause I just checked its website and saw it’s a Romantic comedy, but no Yuri or at least a Shoujo-Ai tag. So I’m just making sure I should watch it but just not take the yuri seriously, or expect anything from it, right?

So I’ve watched all, but the twelfth episode and after some mixed feelings about this couple. I’m really disappointed about the number of episodes they went without developing this couple after laying the ground work in the fifth episode, but the eleventh episode made up in spades. I guess it’s my fault for initially watching this anime for the couple and not the plot. However, I’ve come to terms with my folly and will try to enjoy this anime with an open mind (especially since I want to put this on my list of anime to make Animegeddon sets for).

You should have read my description when I said their relationship developed “every now and then”.

Well, I took a look at the BakaUpdates page and “harem”, “romance” and “child born from incest” are some of the tags I saw. That yuri is probably going nowhere.

What happens in the light novel is irrelevant to me. I only talked about the anime.

So yet another Modern day magic situation I see? Neat! Also, now I know to avoid the L/N.

Happens a lot in shows based on source materials with one male lead and lots of ladies nearby. It’s also why I have zero interest in the No Game No Life LN. Usually the stories between the anime and LN differ in the sense that I prefer the anime versions of the stories.
LikeLike
I think, RARELY, VERY RARELY, the anime actually ends up having the same sort of stuff you see int he source. But yeah, generally the L/Ns are worse off for that stuff.
I wanna hope the NGNL LN is one of those exceptions, because it has a really nice story to go with everything. And the relationship between Shiro and Sora is nice and healthy in the anime, which is way too rare (to see a sibling relationship, ESPECIALLY if they’re not blood-related, where the brother and sister aren’t lusting after each other…).
So, I wanna hope! But I’m well aware of the likelihood that that hope is crushed into the rocks. Also, it’s rare to see such an obvious harem setup actually have two girls who are genuinely into each other and not the main character. Let alone having only one of the girls actually into the main character. That’s even rarer.
I’d need some confirmation from someone else before making the plunge though.

Eh, I’m good with what we got (and probably will get) in the anime version of the series for both these shows.

Though….technically…wasn’t Sasami born from incest? So, that tag probably doesn’t really mean a thing. The “harem” tag is more worrying.
LikeLike
The first tag probably refers to that but the harem thing wouldn’t surprise me that it’s a plot point in the manga or novel.

Only the manga has the harem tag, the novel doesn’t. The manga also has the Gender Transformation tag so they might be pretty different. I wouldn’t count on anything, though, Shaft just likes to have more yuri in several of their adaptions.
