Yuri Quickie: Attack on Titan

Keep in mind this post will only cover the first season of the anime.

The duo first interacted when Christa offered an exhausted Potato Girl (Sasha) bread when Ymir questioned Christa’s unnecessary kindness but quickly noticed Sasha being easy to manipulate.

Ymir and Christa

During a surprise attack from the Titans later on we got this scene after Christa stopped Ymir from belittling Armin and arguing with baldie.

Then they do some random stuff once in a while. Ymir at one point during the second major arc was standing on a giant tree’s branch keeping an eye out for incoming Titans when the first sentence she uttered was “Has anyone seen Christa?” or something like that.

That’s the gist of their interactions in anime really. If readers are not one of the many who could not wait and immediately picked up the manga for more YumiKuri goodness then you will have to wait till 2016 for the second season, which I will do as I am in no rush to watch more AoT.

PS: I forgot to mention that even though the second image was initially a joke YumiKuri was eventually confirmed as canon by the creator so something more to look forward to when they’re on screen or in a manga chapter.

I’ve never seen AoT and be hesitant to do so. From the reviews I’ve seen, it doesn’t seem like an anime I’d enjoy. As much I want to see the exact extent this couple goes, I don’t want to watch this anime if this couple is purely subtext (there are times where I must draw a line in the sand). Now if this couple in fact is cannon, then I might convince myself to watch this anime.

There’s some subtext in one of their shorts

Really liking this new segment, makes finding those kinds of shows way easier.

By the way, I checked for a R.O.D review yesterday since I was planning on starting it but didn’t find one. If that means you didn’t watch the anime yet, then, you know, you really should. For various reasons.

  4. I absolutely love these two but can’t stand this show at all. And unfortunately, reading the manga just for these two is a waste of time, so maybe I’ll just wait until season 2 and indulge in all the fan/official art and fanfiction of them for now. 😛

Goddammit AoT Lol…you weren’t even worth it for YumiKuri. 😛

YumiKuri confirmed by the creator? That is awesome. Btw have you seen that LoK ending? I mention this because i’d say its noteworthy to the Yuri Nation >.>

I’m in the same boat, waiting for S2 but not in any hurry. The show is essentially brainless watch for me. Potato girl is alright though XD
