As we all know by now 2014, or “The Fifth Age of Yuri” as I dubbed it at the start of the year, has been amazing so far. I say “so far” because it will thankfully continue this Winter and hopefully onward. Once again I am borrowing a page off of the great Michirumagazine‘s playbook and sharing a very interesting survey with my English speaking fans. I’d like to take this opportunity to ask the doods and peeps of the yuri nation to participate in a survey consisting of 9 important questions that everyone is free to answer or not answer. I am very interested in hearing what everyone has to say about the third age of yuri because I think it has been amazing so far but there is more to it than simply a one word opinion of the year. With that I leave to you the nine questions that I will guide everyone to answer and, again, you are all free to accept or deny answering the questions. If some participants have trouble answering the questions or cannot come up with an answer they are free to skip the question. Here are some guidelines:
- Again participants are free to accept or deny answering the questions. If some have trouble answering the questions or cannot come up with an answer you are free to skip the question. HOWEVER, the one question that requires an answer is #1.
- Make sure to number all your answers so I can tell which questions were answered by how many participants because I plan on discussing them sometime in January.
- Most of the questions may be answered with either an open answer (Further elaboration on the written answer) or a closed answer (Just the written answer with no further elaboration). Some of the questions have additional options that are explained.
Ready? Let’s begin.
#1: How would you rank the state of yuri in the animanga industry? Participants are free to write an open answer with further elaboration on the question or pick one of the five closed answers below.
- Bad
- Poor
- Acceptable
- Noteworthy
- Amazing
#2: Which yuri manga has felt the most satisfying to read this year?
(Note that the manga does not need to have begun publishing this year. It can be a manga that began publishing sometime before 2014 BUT it has to either have ended publication this year or be an ongoing one.)
#3: Which anime with yuri content has felt the most satisfying to watch this year? (Like question 2 the anime does not necessarily need to have premiered in 2014. It could have aired in 2013 and have ended this year. You can use any anime with Grade 1 to 5 yuri content in your answer.)
#4: Rank the following yuri media formats in a top 5 or top 10 manner or for participants who are ordinal and up to the challenge, rank all the below from favorite to least favorite. – One-shots – 4-koma – Manga – Light Novels – Fanfics – Fanarts – Doujinshi – TV Anime. – O.V.A.s – O.N.A.s – Anime Movies – Live-Action – Drama CD’s – Music Videos/AMVs – Visual Novels – JRPG’s – Yuri in other Video Game genres
#5: Mention which of the below genres (or a combination of the below choices) participants would like to see more future anime with yuri content be produced about. Action, Martial Arts, Adventure, War, Science-Fiction, Comedy, Sports, Drama, Fantasy, Gakuen, Historical, Idols, Magical Girls, Mechas, Mystery, Police, Slice of Life, Super Heroes, Horror.
#6: Describe the type of yuri relationships participants would like to see more of in future yuri works Use the below typology to help form a description.
Typology: amount of physical intimacy, personalities, character archetypes, age, occupation, sexual preference (straight, lesbian, bisexual, other), social status.
#7: What are participants’ least favorite trends in yuri anime or manga?
(Check out the highlighted text for more details on most of the below mentioned trends.) Bad end, male interference, incest, “Best friends” angle, excessive fanservice, yuri stereotypes, emo lesbians, betrayal, shows not “crossing the subtext line”, superficial yuri. (Participants may also mention a trend not included among these examples if they so choose.)
#8: What past anime or manga (pre-2014) would participants like to see future works of? Examples of future work: new season, remake, movie, live-action, spin-off, other.
#9: What anime or manga in 2015, that participants are aware of. are they most excited for?
As previously mentioned this is a survey to better understand how nation members feel about the current state of yuri media. The results will be discussed in January. Thank you to everyone who chose to participate and I look forward to reading your responses.
Question #1:
Anime-wise i personally believe this to be strongest year in terms of Quantity
while Manga-wise it’s remained rather consistent for the past few years.
overall — Noteworthy
Question #2:
tough question, not many manga running through this year have really been
what i’d consider “satisfying” except maybe the Akuma no riddle manga in
it’s expanding the stories background and heaping on the yuri.
Question #3:
Akuma no riddle, half because of the Uki-Uki-Waku-Waku-fluffy-unexpectadly
happy ending, other half because 90% of the western viewer-base
cried, whinged, whined and spat venom at it for not fulfilling their despair fetish, making me feel good
that i can legitimately enjoy something so many others hate.
Question #4:
#1 Visual Novels
#2 manga
#3 TV anime
#4 4-Koma
#5 Yuri in other Video games
#6 O.V.A’s
#7 one-shots
– the rest i don’t really pay enough attention to.
Question #5:
Martial-arts, Sci-fi, Adventure and mystery. Any combination or
by themselves.
Question #6:
Really hard for me to answer properly but here i go.
I always liked Ms. Vincent’s(Gunsmith cats) style, (sorta)celibate lesbian
who keeps a mainstay personality as a badass bounty-hunter,
only difference i’d like is she’d have to actually get the girl in the end.
Nadie(El cazador) is also relevant considering personality and relationship progression (maybe up the intimacy a teensy bit).
hope that was a good enough answer.
Question #7:
Bad ends, Male Interference, betrayal, Gay for pay, Gay til’ Graduation, Most Gender-bender’s and Superficial yuri.
No real need for further elaboration.
Question #8:
Despite the futility i really wanna see an Anime adaption of Poor Poor Lips so bad.
failing that the completion of Sasameki koto’s anime adaption.
Question #9:
Yuri kuma arashi is the obvious one, but Koufuku Graffiti is a Manga Time Kirara Manga so that too.

I too smile wide whenever the Western fanbase of anything goes on a rampage. Idiocy from a bunch of people whose expectations are destroyed is great entertainment.
Maybe I should read Gunsmith Cats. I had heard interesting things about it.

2.Legally Married and Kase-san – I love Yuri in its fluffiest forms.
HaNaYaMaTa – Moe, fluff, warm, well, you know the feels.
Hm…
Top 5
1 – TV Anime
2 – Manga
3 – Doujinshi
4 – Fanfics
5 – Fanarts
Adventure, Drama, Gakuen, Slice of Life – I’m into more old school stuff.
Probably the love teams with Tsunderes, Tomboys (but not into trans or cross dressing), and Danderes.
Bad ends, Abuse, Cheating, Male Interference, Incest, Gay for pay, Excessive fanservice, superficial yuri.
Anime for Girlfriends by Morinaga Milk and Straberry Shake Sweet by Hayashiya Shizuru and continuation of Prism by Higashiyama Shou. But alright, I give up, they are not gonna happen. Just wishful thinking. Sigh…
Anime or Manga, none at the moment, I guess… I prefer to wait until they are all complete before watching rather than waiting

Sadly yuri’s growth will continue being slower than yaoi’s for a while. Maybe because of how Japan doesn’t take yuri as seriously as yaoi. Maybe something to do with sexism or patriarchy. Not entirely sure.

If AnR had a second season to flesh it out and Cross Ange could qualify as the yuri it was anticipated, then an Amazing might have been in the cards.
ST for Yuru Yuri fans, AnR for KnM fans. AnR.
I wish I knew or cared about some of those…damn it googles them up
-Anime (if they make it up here it’s already an accomplishment)
-Manga (probably the de facto media)
-VN (still pretty accomplished)
-Light Novels (Marimite pretty much)
-Anime movies (getting into the spinoffs and quasi-officials)
-OVA
-Drama CD’s
-Games
-JRPGs
-4-koma (getting into the fan-ish section)
-one-shots
-fanfics
-fanart
-amv
-live-action (into the “I’m not really a fan part)
-doujinshi
-ona (I had to google this one up)
Tough one. I’ll go with the “epic/devotion” type that Utena/KnM/GR0/PMMM pulled off and AnR kinda did. Different circs, but a relationship that goes the distance, beats all challenges and puts a definitive mark.
Aren’t all of them yuri stereotypes? I’ll go with the notion/percentage of evil, superficial yuri. Most will go with male/bad ends, but I think “evil yuri” is the mechanic which allows the male insert the popular vote. Example: Tusk in CA is a mainstream fan favourite. Now imagine if lesbians Zola, Hilda, Chris and Rosalie weren’t portrayed in a hugely negative, douchey light at the outset. I mean, if Ange/Hilda acted like NanoFate at the outset, Tusk will have a much harder time being accepted. Most people will complain about Tusk being there, I’ll complain how he got in that easy.
Thinking back on it, probably superficiality is a worse fault than evil portrayal: Chikane/Homura/Shizuru are technically evil, but with fleshed-out depths that go beyond the StoPan/CA’s “let’s just rape you and talk about global warming” shtick.
I’m not as enthused next year tbh. Kancolle. Yuri Kuma seems really random, and the artwork and premise is too “out there” for me to throw the chips in just now. Of course, that’s what I said about Sakura Trick too…
Shoot me, but I almost went Cross Ange just for the sheer willpower willing it to pull off the comeback.
Long survey, good luck with the info.

#1. Poor (especially prior to 2014), but (hopefully) slowly changing to acceptable. More grade 1-2 anime needed!
#2. Sorry, don’t read manga.
#3. If we’re speaking about yuri content only, it’s hard to beat “Sakura Trick”. But as a whole, I’d say “Sabagebu” was (unexpectedly) the best. I’d also like to make a honorable mention of “Mikakunin de Shinkoukei” — Benio-sama was simply unbelievable.
#4.

#5. Drama+SOL! Give me another Strawberry Panic! (but with better plot this time, please).
#6. Tough one, I’ll skip.
#7. Evil lesbians & subtext only. Males also, though some unobtrusive males are OK.
#8. Strike Witches! Unfortunately, as you may have heard, the third O.V.A. will be about Lynette & Perrine, so Sanya+Eila fans are out of luck. I feel robbed.
Also new season of Yuru Yuri will be more than welcomed.
#9. Right now I know only one 100% yuri show: Yuri Kuma Arashi. Also, have some hopes for “Kantai Collection”, “Kōfuku Graffiti”; and very little hopes for “Gakkou Gurashi!”, “Chōjikū Robo Meguru” and “Jōkamachi no Dandelion”.

Don’t really remember which ones actually ended in 2014, read too many and I don’t really have all that good of a memory when it comes to manga.
Sakura Trick hands down for me. Hanayamata was a close second but the fluffiness and pure yuri with almost no outside interference was a breath a fresh air for me.
VNs
Manga
Doujinshi
TV Anime
Light Novels
Yuri in VGs
and then everything else
I would love to see more Magical girl go beyond subtext, but I would say science-fiction/fantasy (need more Horizon), a successful yuri mecha (damn you Cross Ange), Adventure,….almost anything that doesn’t end in bad end or characters killed off (cept when needed to move the stroy)
I would like to see a family yuri. There’s too much high school subtex yuri and an official couple would be great, especially with a more mature aspect. (although anything yuri family wise would be great since it hasn’t happened except for Nanoha doujinshi’s and Horizon’s Malga/Margot)
Bad End. I usually drop a show when I realize a bad end is coming on and it really bothers me. Butch is another and the there’s the interfering male lead. always wish he would end up dead in a ditch. Last would be subtext, there’s much yuri subtext that we thrive on to keep going, I NEED MORE SUBSTANCE. I can’t keep throwing on the googles just to see my yuri everytime (best friends also falls into that to much).
Will always eagerly await a Horizon season 3 (even though it’s not about the yuri), it’s too awesome. Girlfriends would also be amazing to see animated. Candy Boy, Strike Witches(I know it’s getting one but it needs to come faster), and Railgun.
9.Kancolle, been waiting ever since the game and material started popping up.

#1: Acceptable. It’ says animanga, so I think like this. If it was only anime I would say it’s poor.
#2: I can’t seem to recall every one I read, but I can say Takemiya Jin’s works I enjoyed greatly, I find the Akuma no riddle manga better than the anime, Sakura Trick (the few chapters), at least in manga industry is not as bad as in anime.
#3; Well, I always enjoy slice of life genre, or the cute girls doing cute things, but I like the most when there’s clearly yuri going on, not just subtext, so I think from grade 3 to 5.
#4: 1)Manga
2)TV anime
3)Doujin
4)Visual novel
5)Fanart
6)OVA
7)Games in general
8)Live action..? don’t really sure what would be this. The rest I don’t really care.
#5:Sports (Track club bein’ on my mind lately), Drama (necessary to take something serious), Gakuen (even if is already been used a lot I still like it), Magical Girls (there’s never enough mahou shoujo), Slice of Life (hopefully there’ll ever be lack of this).
#6: Age, occupation, social status. What I’d like see the most is some serious relationship, with all the problems a lesbian couple could have, preferably an adult relationship.
#7: Male interference as the most annoying (Kannazuki no Miko ugh or even Nanoha). Excessive fanservice, this can destroy a good show. Betrayal, I can’t even imagine this without having my heart in pain. Shows not “crossing line”, I want adult yuri or at least college, Superficial yuri. If it’s in something like SAO then I don’t want to see it and why is it there anyway.
#8: I’ll be so happy if there could be more Sakura Trick, but that’s a little unreasonable, so any yuri that is like Sakura Trick (no subtext, true feelings, a bit of drama, really all that)
#9: I can’t think on anything but Yuri kuma.

#1: How would you rank the state of yuri in the animanga industry?
It’s improving slowly…
Manga’s improved by leaps and bounds really, but anime’s still catching up
#2: Which yuri manga has felt the most satisfying to read this year?
Yuru Yuri, would be date a Strike likely, but I haven’t read the 4th volume yet
#3: Which anime with yuri content has felt the most satisfying to watch this year?
Technically I enjoyed Love Live Seaosn 2 the most, but No Game No Life’s yuri content felt the most satisfying. Strange how I can say that when Sakura Trick aired during this year eh? xD
#4: Rank the following yuri media formats in a top 5 or top 10 manner or for participants who are ordinal and up to the challenge, rank all the below from favorite to least favorite.
The one on the bottom is merely because I can’t think of any ONAs that apply really. yes, this is indeed in order
Everything, yuri in everything!!!
#6: Describe the type of yuri relationships participants would like to see more of in future yuri works Use the below typology to help form a description.
Double tsundere. Loli/s that is not a loli in age. Post-highschool. Secret Organization members. Military. Students at a co-ed highschool. College students. Idols. Treasure hunters. Straight up lesbians, but they don’t know it right away. NTR (As in, a girl NTRs a guy’s girlfriend. I find that particularly amusing). Pairing utopia (Everyone has someone for them! No harems, and no one is left behind!). The subtext that just somehow barely stays within the confines of what ‘subtext’ is, but we all know it’s something more (call me masochistic, but I like these relationships too). Incest is fine too (only recently have I come to appreciate this). I could probably name some more, but these are up at the top. Always remember that loli/pettankos are the prefferred “age” of at least one of the girls in the relationship. If that makes any sense.
#7: What are participants’ least favorite trends in yuri anime or manga?
(Check out the highlighted text for more details on most of the below mentioned trends.)
(in order from most hated to least hated)
– One-sided love of someone who already likes a guy. This is like…THE WORST THING EVER (I guess this is technically “male interference”).
– The next worst thing would be superficial yuri. I hate this
– Bad end. I don’t like bad ends.
– Les Switch (Basically, Kuroko in Nyarko, becoming in love with Mahiro. Blegh…)
– Betrayal. this is kinda basically “bad end”.
– emo lesbians. I dunno, it just gets on my nerves really.
– “Best friends” angle. Not really that big a deal, but can get a bit irksome at times
– shows not “crossing the subtext line”. this isn’t really a problem for me. I’m fine with this
– Exessive fanservice. As long as it’s yuri-service, then Ir eally don’t care to be honest. I would prefer a show to not have it, but at the same time, I don’t dislike a show for having it.
– Incest is something I’ve come to like, so this obviously is not “hated” in any way. I even enjoy non-yuri incest relationships at times (long as they don’t get in the way of my yuri-ships of course)
#8: What past anime or manga (pre-2014) would participants like to see future works of?
honorable mention goes out to Z/X Ignition. It was a 2014 show I know, but I really think there could be some serious potential if it somehow managed to get another season.
FAINARU QUESTION SUTAAAATO!
#9: What anime or manga in 2015, that participants are aware of. are they most excited for?
Nanoha Vivid. Though, if Gakkou Gurashii were in 2015, then that would be it. I love me some zombies. But zombies, cute girls, AND yuritext? COUNT ME IN

1: Acceptable because yuri hasn’t gotten much manga love but akuma no riddles anime adaptation really tipped it into the ok scale.
2: A manga called Honto No Kanojo really good with a weird twist in it.
3: Sakura trick wasn’t the best but the fact that they were a couple over just being more than friends but not lovers really felt good to see.
4: 1:Anime, 2:Manga, 3:4-Koma, 4:One-Shots, 5:Fan art
5:Martial arts/Drama (always good stories) Adventure, Mystery, and slice of life. I like comedy but i feel it sometimes takes away from the yuri (yuyushiki)
6: College is a great age for yuri to be dramatic enough and not have to deal with that scared of coming out stuff. Im ok with the girls doing anything as long as that isn’t the entire show. At that point its just softcore hentai.Tsundere is a must have because that the favorite personality. Incest is also a favorite because it adds on to the forbidden love part.
7: Shows not crossing subtext line is the biggest one, Bad ending, and excessive fanservice that leads nowhere.
8: Candy boy and El Cazador le bruja because candy boy was good and because le bruja left me wanting so much more.
9: Kantai because I always read the one shots and really wanna see it.

#1. I feel that for anime 2014 has been quite successful in handing out more yuri themed shows or adding in more yuri characters in shows as side couples. I’d like to see a steady increase in it but it’s wishful thinking as we don’t know what to expect from all the shows being released for those of us that don’t read every manga there is. For manga, it’s also been successful. There’ve been the few that people dislike or get tired of seeing but I think for the most part it’s been good. Hopefully the pace either remains steady or increases as Comiket and other conventions where dojinshi are sold get picked up.
#2. I have two yuri manga to list as most satisfying. Kase-san and Stretch. Kase-san is cute, fluffy, sexy at times, and downright adorable! I’ve reread this one a number of times just to bring a smile to my face when I’m having a tough day. Stretch is another one I find relaxing to read. It’s cute, doesn’t rush things, and is enjoyable. I don’t care that people keep calling the author a troll, it’s a good manga and I look forward to more of it.
#3. Seeing as I’ve been slacking on keeping up on fall anime I can say the I really enjoyed Sakura Trick and Nekogami-san and Inugami-san. I would love to see more of this grade of Yuri anime made and aired whether or not it’s a full 22 minutes or 3-5 minute shorts.

#5 I’d like to see the following for yuri anime: Action, Adventure, Science-Fiction, Comedy, Fantasy, Gakuen, Historical, Idols, Magical Girls, Mystery, Police, Slice of Life, Super Heroes, Horror.
#6 I’d really like to see more cutesy cuddling in form of intimacy. Going all the way is all well and good but cuddling can be very intimate without removing of clothes or anything else. I happen to like the quiet shy girls with the outgoing social girl. Tsundere can be cute if executed right but if the setup isn’t good, it just doesn’t work for me. Plus being tsundere then entirety of a relationship can be a real drag. I like adult, young adult, age gap, and highschool yuri. Sometimes if the characters are younger I can enjoy it to if it’s done in a way I can appreciate it. When artists/writers go below the age of say 12-13 I start to draw the line. Loli is not my thing. For sexual preference I like it if the character is either bisexual or lesbian or straight but questioning if she likes girls or not-it happens. Social status doesn’t matter much to me as long as the oujo-sama angle isn’t overplayed or focused on more than the love interest part of the story. It can be used as a plot point but sometimes even those get really carried away.
#7 In order from least hated to most. The first 5 kind of hold the same place in positioning for me. I despise male interference and wish painful death upon those that do interfere
Emo Lesbians
Incest
Yuri Stereotypes
“Best Friends” angle
Excessive fanservice
Shows not crossing the subtext line-sometimes it’s best to leave it to the fanbase
Bad end
Betrayel
Superficial Yuri
Male interference
#8 I’d like to see more of A certain Scientific Railgun. Love the show and I’d like to see more on the girls.

#1: How would you rank the state of yuri in the animanga industry?
Poor, maybe? While there are anime that had some yuri content… it’s very rarely something serious and without-a-doubt romance – usually it’s played off as “friendship” so more people might watch it I guess. Or they are just scared of girl love.
#2: Which yuri manga has felt the most satisfying to read this year?
Asagao to Kase-san, maybe? I enjoyed it.
#3: Which anime with yuri content has felt the most satisfying to watch this year?
I’d say Locodol(yay for Yukari!), Chuunibyou 2(Dekomori Summer, obviously) and maybe Saki Zenkoku-Hen(everyone I guess).
Though, yes, they are lacking ‘real’ yuri, they have a lot of canon high subtext.
#4: Rank the following yuri media formats in a top 5 or top 10 manner or for participants who are ordinal and up to the challenge, rank all the below from favorite to least favorite.

#5: Mention which of the below genres (or a combination of the below choices) participants would like to see more future anime with yuri content be produced about.
Action, Adventure, Comedy, Sports, Idols, Magical Girls, Slice of Life.
#6: Describe the type of yuri relationships participants would like to see more of in future yuri works Use the below typology to help form a description.
While physical intimacy is kinda irrelevant to me, I’d like shows to be NOT even close to hentai. Everything is cool, just not too explicit. I like when there’s one tomboy/butch in relationship. The other one can be normal or girly or whatever. Also I really, really like size difference. Like, hella. Sasameki Koto was cool in that regard. Well obviously I’d rather like that characters in yuri pairing weren’t straight, that kinda defeats the purpose. They can be undecided or scared of it, and straight-wannabe, but not for real. It gives unnecessary drama, and hurts the gayer one in the relationship. Be anything BUT straight one going for some male lead.
#7: What are participants’ least favorite trends in yuri anime or manga?
I’m kind very picky when it comes to anime, and I drop them without second thought if something I don’t like appears.
Interfering Male Character – usually I read review before watching show, so if I see THAT one, and especially if he’s successful, I don’t even approach it and shield myself from learning anything more about it. It’s a huge turn off.
Bad End – another thing I really, really dislike. I don’t mind drama along the way – but ending has to be somewhat happy.
Superficial Yuri – I thankfully avoided shows with that one so far. Very consciously. I don’t like it.
Lack of Shows “Crossing the Line” – While I mentally shrug usually about this, I’d certainly like to have more anime where characters are in college or at least older than, say, 16 or 17 y old. Whenever I see 12 or 13 y old in anime which is supposed to be yuri(or just any kind of romance) I feel a little conflicted and nauseous. And don’t throw any lolis my way.(that are sexualized by other characters)
The “Best Friends” Angle – if that one repelled me, I don’t think there would be much of anything to watch. Unfortunately, as I see it for now, it’s kinda essential to accept it. At least until there will be more shows that are not borderline subtext, but have their yuri fleshed out more. One can hope.
Excessive Fanservice/Ecchi shows – I can’t say I like it, but I accept it when show is good enough. If anime sucks plot-wise or character-wise, then fanservice will only push me harder to drop it.
Incest – I’ve been Elsanna shipper for over a year, and while I don’t necessarily like it – I was more into some AU where they aren’t sisters – I don’t find it repulsive in fiction. It’s neutral for me.
Yuri Stereotypes – I can see what you mean, but I haven’t watched anime long enough to take an issue with it
Emo Lesbians – Can’t say I saw one with that
Butch – I can’t say I saw a lot of it, but I certainly would like to. I’d like to have more butch in anime actually. I find shows very lacking of that one element.
#8: What past anime or manga (pre-2014) would participants like to see future works of?
Symphogear season 3? I guess it’s been already announced, but I hope it comes fast. And while it is from 2014 I’d love to see continuation of PMMM Rebellion announced.
#9: What anime or manga in 2015, that participants are aware of. are they most excited for?
Senki Zesshou Symphogear season 3. Och well. At least I hope it comes out in 2015.

Yuri is still a struggling genre that can’t find it’s position on the wider spectrum, the genre is still stuck on cliches, and it’s still struggling to find its niches. The fanbase is really small and scattered and apathetic enough, and compared to other romance sub-genres in animanga, Yuri just don’t cut it. It needs one or two masterpieces (Madoka Magica may be critically acclaimed, but it’s no yuri) that can propel this genre.
I’m really sad to say this as an ardent supporter of yuri growth in both global animanga scene and my own local animanga scene.
Their Story – Yes it’s a manhwa, and that is one reason I’m really stoked on this release. The fact that it doesn’t follow standard slice-of-life conventions and it has good art are some nice bonus points.
The Flower And The Star – Yuri love/hate, well no explanation needed haha.
The Sea, You, and The Sun – Beautiful art and sex scene, I’m not a NSFW reader but this series impress me with it’s art and characters – even though the story is standard.

I’m always a sucker for yuri couples that are in love/hate relationship, that it’s instability makes them closer. Also more yuri couples that are emotionally scarred and needs each other for survival aww.
a. Bad End – I detest this one
b. Excessive Fanservice – I’m not a prude lol
c. Male Interference – Males on yuri series are not bad, but I would like to have my yuri couple run free from third persons.
d. Fear of Crossing the Line – 50/50, I like my school girl yuri, but I also like this genre to see beyond the school gardens.
The others, I don’t care. I like emo yuris, and I don’t think that it’s annoying, it can be realistic and hits the guts lol.
Skipping 8 and 9 for now because I have to sleep lol.

It’s still one of the smallest genres out there and even today you can count actual yuri animes on two hands but especially on the subtext front things really took of over the last two years. Manga wise things are looking pretty good but I’d like to see some more longer running series. I’m a little worried about some of the yuri publications shutting down but Yuri Hime seems to run strong enough to carry the genre for now at least.
#2: We have lot of fun mangas going on right now but my favorites are Fragments of Love, Murcielago and Philosophia. Otherwise pretty much everything by Takemiya and Shininta but who knows which of those oneshots and anthologies were actually published this year? If you are talking “satisfying” and not just “awesome” and wanna limit it on one, I’d go with Murcielago, I guess.
#3: Mhh, I gave a lot of 10s this year on MAL. Sakura Trick, Sabagebu!, and if Hanamonogatari counts (and it should), then that too. Satisfying wise it would definitely be Sakura Trick.
#4: 1. Manga
2. TV Anime
3. 4-koma
4. OVAs
5. Anime Movies
#5: I’d be fine with everything that tries to mix yuri with other genres, really. I’d love all of those you named. If I had to pick too, it’d be sports and action, probably.
#6: We need more confident lesbians that don’t say “but we are both girls” all the time, best example would be the characters by Takemiya, I guess. I’d love to see more pairings that have kind of a S&M relationship going on, too, like in The Real Her. And of course more grown up lesbians.
#7: Bad Endings and Bait and Switch are the fucking worst. I don’t read or watch girls getting into each other just to see the girl get with some random dude in the end. The more I watch them, the more I hate Unrequited Yuri Crushes too, especially if they are only played for laughs. Gender Bender, too. If it’s a guy that gets his privates changed, it’s still a fucking guy. And MAL and BakaUpdates should stop labeling Futanari as Yuri cause it’s fucking not. There is still a lot more bad stuff out there but I’m getting angry just writing about it, so I’ll stop here.
#8: Girl Friends anime, obviously. I’d love a Poor Poor Lips, Strawberry Shake or Garden of Lilies anime, too. None of that is ever going to happen, though.
#9: Yuri Kuma is the only actual yuri show I can think of.

#2 Everything Takemiya Jin has put out this year. I’ve been getting really into her.
#3 Sakura Trick, of course!
#4 – Manga, TV Anime, One-shots, O.V.A.s, and Doujinshi. I don’t really get much yuri from other things, but I really don’t like yonkoma. They’re hard for me to read.
#5 I want to see yuri drama, with a ton of aaaaaangst
#6 I’m not sure I understand #6. I want to see two girls. I guess I would like more adult life in yuri anime.
#7 Bad end, male interference, incest, “Best friends” angle, excessive fanservice, yuri stereotypes, emo lesbians, betrayal, shows not “crossing the subtext line”, superficial yuri. All of these plus siscons. Gettin’ real sick of siscon. It spoiled potential the potential pairing in Yuru Yuri of Akari’s sister and Chinatsu’s sister.
#8 I’m excited to see Non Non Biyori is getting season 2, but I really want a continuation of Sasameki Koto or an anime for Girlfriends or maybe Last Uniform
#9 Yuri Kuma! Morishima Akiko is my favorite mangaka

It seems like your going mainstream, but let me remind you that there are many mainstream sites people can view. People come here, because they like to. Please do not take this offensively. 5. Action, adventure, sports and martial arts, historical, SoL. War maybe. That one could be interesting but I doubt I would like the ending.
6. Mid to late twenties showcasing the full relationship from first meeting or early dating through living together. No intense drama or outlandish misunderstandings but typical relationship issues.
7. Bad end, male interference, betrayal or cheating and anything that suggests non-canon yuri is probable.
8. Remake of Kannazuki no Miko. Continuation of Aoi Hana and Sasameki Koto. The conclusion of Marimite with Sachiko and Rei’s graduation and maybe new material with Yoshino x Nana and Yumi x Touko. They also need to find a way to get Shouko x Tsutako in the anime.
9. Kantai – There are so many doujinshi I skipped over because I don’t have a basis for the pairings. Also Non Non Biyori Season 2.

#1: How would you rank the state of yuri in the animanga industry?
Acceptable. It’s obvious producers have to keep the fanbase in mind when making creative choices. However, outside of niche productions, yuri is still seen as just an extra genre, not something to carry a show on its merit.
#2: Which yuri manga has felt the most satisfying to read this year?
Shinozaki-san Ki wo Ota Shika Ni. I don’t really read that much and I don’t consider Saki a full-out yuri manga despite the yuri elements.
#3: Which anime with yuri content has felt the most satisfying to watch this year?
Prisma Illya Zwei. (Hanayamata, No Game No Life)
#4-5. Skip. They can all be equally good. It only depends on the execution.
#6: Describe the type of yuri relationships participants would like to see more of in future yuri works.
I’m not into voyeurism, so I appreciate it when on-screen intimacy levels are within the level seen as acceptable for the equivalent het romances. The find the emotional aspect more satisfying. However, for couples with very intimate relationships, there are always tasteful ways of getting the message across. As for the types of characters involved, I just want writers to tell the best stories they can, so I Have no particular expectations here.
#7: What are participants’ least favorite trends in yuri anime or manga?
Any bait-and-switch developments which imply that the yuri was there artificially just to draw interest. Mind you, there are ways to show a het relationship winning over a yuri relationship without it feeling cheap – you just have to show your cards from the get-go (e.g. Tamako Market/Love Story) rather than resort to character or relationship derailment with no explanation provided.
#8: What past anime or manga (pre-2014) would participants like to see future works of?
Always up for a new season of Railgun and the like. Out of the less realistic choices, another season of Aoi Hana xD.
#9: What anime or manga in 2015, that participants are aware of. are they most excited for?
Prisma Illya Drei, Symphogear 3, Girls und Panzer the Movie, Kantai Collection

#1: Noteworthy – There is not a shortage of yuri (though there can be more), but there is a lack of mainstream (which may be for the best) and I feel some subtext is writers hesitate to commit.
#2: I keep saying I am going to read mangas more and never do.
#3: Tough call, over all I would have to Akama no Riddle, but most satisfying moment goes to when Nanyako jumped in Yukari’s bed in Locodol
#4: Number 1 is TV Anime. I won’t go further because I have yet to dive further into some the media which I really should, but never do. Therefore I can’t judge them all equally.
#5: EVERYTHING! I just want yuri to explore as many realms as possible. I feel yuri likes to stick to certain genres too much as time.
#6: I definitely would like more “older” women, college and up. Also more women whose occupation is yuri harem lead.
#7:
Male interference is a definite. Watched a few harems where I just want to remove the guy and watch the girls interact. Nothing will make me hate a male character more than interfering with yuri, followed by kicking a puppy or a baby.
Excessive fanservice. Too much is definitely a turn off.
Bad endings. I could still enjoy a show that wraps up bad, but I just rather it didn’t.
The rest I feel can be done right with proper execution, but can be difficult to pull off, even superficial yuri. In high school many people would mistake me for being in a gay relationship even though I wasn’t, so I know “superficial” relations do happen where people seem randomly paired up but really aren’t, but this is hard to properly portray.
#8:
There are many, but I don’t keep a running list because it just makes me disappointed when they don’t get announced. (though your last picture reminds me that Railgun is one of them) Though I always rather someone end a series then try to drag it out and possible ruin it.
One other one I will mention that I would really like would be a spin-off of love live with the little sisters and/or moms.
#9: If I had to pick one, Illya because its a known quality, that I love, with characters I love and am not worried how it will turn out. For the upcoming season KanColle.

1) Acceptable- I think Yuri is still a small niche genre and that studios are leery to commit to a full fledged yuri story. So many shows that are on the brink of being yuri…but…not….quite….there!
2) Shinozaki-san has been my hands down favorite that I have read this year. I love how over the top and oblivious Akina acts! It makes me laugh everytime I read it.
3) Locodol and Sakura trick, are my top two this season so far. Hanayamata came in close but I do like the comedies! Although Yuuki Yuna is most likely going to surpass them as my favorite!
4) Manga, TV Anime, Anime Movies, after these….it depends!
5) While SoL works well with the genre…I would like to see more Sci-Fi or fantasy settings! Maybe a slightly older than middle/highschool magical girl show 🙂 I would also like to see more action/adventure type shows which feature strong lesbian charaters.
6) I don’t think I have a preference here as long as its done right.
7) I do hate bad ends but I so hate the interfering male characters even more. I can’t stand most male lead characters…hell…I cant watch harem anime anymore because they enrage me so! Other than those, I guess I do occasionally suffer from subtext fatigue and wish the writers would take that extra step.
I’ll have to finish the other two later!

2) Ayame 14 by Amano Shuninta rocks. If only we got more often scans as well…
3) inugami-san was pretty good. If only it was longer.
4) Manga > OVAs> anime series> fanarts> fanfictions
5) scifi, police, scifi; and everyday drama isn’t half bad
6) I want more adult relationships. We need more lesbians like Haruka x Michiru. It’d be really nice if we also got to see stories about old age. It’d be super innovative if for once we get 2 butch together, too.
7) Bad end, male interference, excessive fanservice, shows not “crossing the subtext line”, superficial yuri.
8) How come there’s no anime for Asagao to Kase-san????? I’d love some OVAs/ONAs with Simoun extra material. Anything from Amano Shuninta in any animation format would be heavely. And please god, let Prism continue.

Would love to see some more manga to anime adaptions of existing and/or/both future yurimanga+current.
Would also love to see some more KuroganeKenn manga adapted into animations. Like hoshikawa ginza or the recent mebae. or something completely original.
Of course, I have others I would love to see. But too many to list and it’s late night for me.
*Main Point:
What I would really like to see? An action-based yuri anime series. And I don’t mean something like the Space pirates anime or subtext of a certain railgun. I mean something “mainstream-ish” but with an actual central yuri focus; to be specific, the main chara is yuri relation, and goes thru with it till the end unlike Shinsekaiyori where it was considered “just another relation before a new one.” Maybe something along the lines of a fusion of Nana no Banana and Ganma. Oh and missing y-chromosome is required, at least in looks and relation. Just give them Henohenomoheji faces if they appear at all (which I wish they dont).

#1: combined, yuri animanga gets “Acceptable” from me at this point. However, separately I feel that yuri manga is definitely in better shape, so “Noteworthy”, while yuri anime sadly is only “Acceptable” (the few good ones are amazing of course but sadly there’re so FEW of them).
However, as a side note, anime industry itself gets “Noteworthy” from me if yuri is not the only element I’m evaluating, because fortunately there’re other factors (e.g. SoL, moe) which aided my enjoyment of anime even in the abscence of yuri.
#2: Shinozaki-san Ki wo Ota Shika Ni is the most satisfying read for me, but I must add that it’s also the only ongoing one I read this year. The others I read this year were all prior completed mangas (e.g wife & wife) so it’s entirely possible there’re other new/ongoing ones that I missed so far.
#3: Sakura Trick all the way! Closely behind are Inugami, Locodol, Saki, Hanayamata, Love Live, Encouragement of Climb, Order a Rabbit
#4: My top 5 ranked from favorite to least:
1 — TV Anime
2 — OVA/ONA
3 — manga
4 — doujinshi
5 — fanfics
the rest are about equal for me
#5: Basically I like yuri in any genre, but more drama, historical would be greatly appreciated as there’re so few yuri in them.
#6: Sakura Trick level of intimacy are GRRRRREAT for me. Age wise I really would like to see more mature yuri content (as many western yuri fanbase seem to prefer), again for me because there’re so FEW of those.
#7: the only thing I really dislike in yuri at all, if there’s any, is the “subtext-fatigue” inducing elements, I’d guess those fall under shows not “crossing the subtext line” and/or superficial yuri played for service with no substance…
#8: anime of yuri manga such as GirlFriends, kisses, sighs, sakura pink, poor poor lips, etc. And sequel/more seasons of MariMite, Sakura Trick, Candy Boy, El Cazador, etc. other high-yuri content series…
Oh and definitely MOAR grade-1 yuri please!!!!!

1: How would you rank the state of yuri in the animanga industry?
Poor. There’s some out there, but the more money put into it and the more mainstream it gets the less yuri it has until you reach the safe ‘totally utterly subtextual’ level. Or the yuri is left to one or two side characters, and often treated as a joke to boot. It has a long way to go.
#2: Which yuri manga has felt the most satisfying to read this year?
Ohana Holoholo might not count since it’s josei manga about bisexuals, but damn have I loved it. If not, either Kase-san or Shinozaki, I can’t choose. I’ve also really enjoyed Holy Girl Paradigm, Comprehensive Tovarisch, and Legally Married Yuri Couple.
#3: Which anime with yuri content has felt the most satisfying to watch this year?
Feel like I can’t answer this since I didn’t watch enough.
#4: Rank the following yuri media formats in a top 5 or top 10 manner or for participants who are ordinal and up to the challenge, rank all the below from favorite to least favorite.
1. Manga
2. One-shots
3. TV Anime
4. Doujinshi
5. Fanfics
#5: Mention which of the below genres (or a combination of the below choices) participants would like to see more future anime with yuri content be produced about.
Drama, magical girls, comedy. I’m not that fussed about genre tbh. Drama’d be my top pick, I guess.
#6: Describe the type of yuri relationships participants would like to see more of in future yuri works Use the below typology to help form a description.
I’d like more yuri relationships that are actual romantic relationships that happen. Sakura Trick was so so close but even then they had to pull that bullshit ‘Haruka didn’t realise they were dating’ thing at the end. Beyond that, anything is good. Romanticised love in a fantasy setting? Hell yeah. Realistic relationships involving real-world depictions of lesbianism and bisexuality? Hell yeah. Schoolgirls who discover their pure love for one another? Hell yeah. Adult women who deal with juggling their relationship and careers? Hell yeah. For intimacy, at least to the point of kissing I’d think. Apart from that, a lot of the tropes already present in yuri are ones I like (apart from tsundere – not a fan of those), but even if stuff about e.g. OLs isn’t my favourite, it’d be great to see more variety in yuri relationships.
#7: What are participants’ least favorite trends in yuri anime or manga?
I hate it when they tease at yuri but then back out at the last minute, or when it’s all just treated as a ‘joke’ or not real in some way. And while I like the idea of subtextual yuri in itself, since you can build up so much emotion when you can’t let yourself just outright say ‘okay they love each other, let’s move on’, the fact that that’s so so SO much more common than canon yuri is pretty sad.
I don’t mind men being involved, and I’d even like to see more bisexual girls in yuri, but they’d have to be ACTUALLY bisexual, not just ‘sure she kissed her friend but that was just a phase and now she’s getting a real boyfriend!!’ type stuff. And really, it’s so common for yuri relationships to be teased only for one to end up with a guy that I think even if you wrote that but with the girl in question as bi you’d still have to try VERY hard not for it to come across similarly dismissive of the yuri. Overall though I actually like men in series with yuri if it doesn’t get in the way, because it feels more realistic. Helps that I’m bi I guess?
I don’t really like it when it’s too oversexualised, though I don’t mind as much as some people. When the fanservice is very much about the relationship between the girls, that can actually be cool since yuri does tend to go the opposite ‘Pure Strong Friendship Between Girls!!’ route and totally desexualising the yuri. (Not that pure girl friendship is bad, but there’s often an implication that ‘Actual Lesbians’ are icky and impure and not good?) But when you add in an implied (male) viewer it gets weird. Like in Sakura Trick – all the make-out scenes were great! The random close-ups of the girls gainaxing without any indication that it’s from a character’s point of view? That’s kind of weird and unnecessary and takes me out of it.
I don’t mind the emo lesbians and stuff. I like a bit of angst and relationship drama. I think I’d really enjoy it much better, though, if we had more happy lesbians to go with it? When the only yuri you can find is tragically unrequited or whatever, that’s… not great.
#8: What past anime or manga (pre-2014) would participants like to see future works of? Examples of future work: new season, remake, movie, live-action, spin-off, other.
A loooot of manga out there that would make for a really great anime. Yes, I’m one of those people who still can’t get over the fact that there was never a Girl Friends anime. But all the manga I listed above would be good options as well. I also love Wife and Wife and Fujieda Miyabi’s stuff, particularly Amber Teahouse.
#9: What anime or manga in 2015, that participants are aware of. are they most excited for?
Yuri Kuma Arashi. The fanservice is…kind of worrying, but I’m a big big fan of Ikuhara so I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt on that for now. I’m actually hoping there’ll be some yaoi as well – more queer people is better, and that’d help to neutralise the view that the anime is more about getting the straight guy viewers off than anything else.

It’s no doubt Citrus(Saburo uta) for me and each chapter of that manga will always be worth the wait. Especially where the story is going now with Yuzu and Mei. Though I’m not yet really satisfied until it’s made into an anime or at least I read the very last chapter of it but each chapter leaves me very satisfied and wanting for more.
I actually have more than one…Sakura Trick and Akuma no Riddle. Both were a really good watch. Sakura Trick was really great because there’s a kissing scene in each episode especially between Yuu and Haruka and they’re all very sweet I can feel the love between them. And what makes them more cute is that they’re not aware of it until the last episode where they start to realise it. For Akuma no Riddle, what made it satisfying are the story and great action scenes. I really like action so knowing Akuma no Riddle is about a class made up of assassin students really caught my interest and at the same time its yuri so its a double thumbs up for me. I’m actually waiting for the OVA the said change in episode 7. I’d like to include Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru and Sora no Method but they’re not done yet so I’m going to stick with my first two.
2- Manga
3- Fanfics
4- Doujinshi
5- OVA
6- Music Videos/AMVs
7- Fanarts
8- Anime movies.
That’s pretty much what I search for
Action, Martial Arts, Adventure, War, Science-Fiction, Comedy, Sports, Drama, Fantasy, Gakuen, Historical, Mechas, Mystery, Police, Slice of Life, Horror. All of it except for Idols, Magical Girls and Super Heroes
I hope to see a yuri relationship with more physical intimacy between the characters, their personalities are opposite with each other but there’s the strong understanding and bond between them and hopefully they would be adults for a change since the setting would almost always be in their high school. More like the characters would already be working or something like that. For the sexual preference it would be nice if the characters would start from thinking that they’re straight to lesbian which is what most start off to. Most of the time the social status of the characters would be a great factor of whether the yuri relationship that they have is worth keeping and fighting for or not for them. So for me its better if one of them is rich and famous and the other is just an ordinary girl. That way common problems of lesbian couples would easily surface which would be very relatable for most thus would be very interesting for them.

Excessive “bush beating” can also become irritating. Ya know, where both characters love each other, but neither of them will admit it. I have very, very strict preference when it come to yuri, which you might had guessed from #5. I love to have the yuri relationships to be extremely clear-cut. That means no subtext business, lol. It’s one of the reason why up to this day, Sono Hanabira still remains my favorite yuri series if we were to compare every yuri titles released from all media possible. So far, the only anime that had achieved at least somewhat to Sono Hanabira’s level is Sakura Trick, which is the reason why I like it so much. Acceptance of taboo relationships is a good theme, and a lot of yuri manga, at least from the ones I read, focus on it. But as I like my yuri to be simple, actually, the less drama, the better.
#7
Bad end and male interference. Aforementioned, since I like the pairings to be clear-cut, trends like “Best friends” angle and “not crossing the subtext line” is not preferable, but since yuri anime is so rare, I’ll take what I can get. Another anime like Sakura Trick is definitely more than welcome though!

This is my first comment on the site. I’m a huge yuri fan and I’m excited to share my opinions, of which I have about a gazillion. 🙂
Once again, always have trouble figuring out what’s been published when. I’m not sure anything I’ve read that came out this year was particularly satisfying, but I’ll have to pick Amano Shuninta’s “Something Like The Dust Which Makes Up My World”. AnR comes in second because it at least made me fangirl and really want its characters to be together. Oh, and if Hayate X Blade counts as yuri, it trumps all those. 🙂
I think I watched 4 anime w/ yuri content this year: AnR, Sakura Trick, Wixoss, and Symphogear (last 2 barely count). Once again, I pick AnR. While it wasn’t exactly a work of art, I loved it to pieces for a good 3 months before I got ahold of my raging self.

This section will be long. Sorry.
Intimacy: I want to see yuri where, whether the two are holding hands or getting steamy, the reader can feel their passion and love for each other. Although Gunjou is a very controversial manga (which I happen to love), that’s one thing I think it does very well, even if the relationships themselves aren’t very healthy. I also like relationships that develop realistically over time. Though, a sexy one night stand isn’t always a bad thing…
Personality: The characters can have any personality, so long as they’re unique and 3-dimensional. I personally would like to see more calm, mature women. Yuri is all about girl worship, but I want to see some distinguished women with experience (think Amano Shuninta’s works). Also, no tsunderes please. It’s not that I hate them (Ayano is adorable) but there are plenty of them already and I can assume that there’ll be more.
Character Archetypes: I’ll be honest, I want more masculine characters. I am a lesbians who is right in the middle of the gender spectrum and can go for feminine or masculine. Well, I’ve gotten a very large serving of feminine, and now I want tomboys and tough women (and Renai Idenshi XX did not satisfy that desire at all, it was practically fake yaoi…) Ladies like Tokaku and Alphard al Sheya.
Age: I have a thing for age gap. Maybe it’s because I’m on the younger side and find a distinguished older woman attractive. I’d also like age gap other than student/teacher, since that’s where practically all of it comes from. How about the CEO of a company falling for a younger employee or delivery girl? Scandal!
Sexual Preference: While I of course want my main characters to be gay or bi, I always like it when the author adds in straight friends and family, because it’s realistic. Many of the people I know and love are straight, and I like it when a manga reflects that. Even a bit of male interference is okay with me. Think of Harada-kun in Girlfriends. That is the level I’m okay with, because once again, it’s realistic; a lot of lesbians don’t come out to themselves and try to love boys. Also, Harada-kun was a very nice guy.
Social Status: The lesbians portrayed in yuri are often rich (every lavish Catholic School, every girl with a massive house, etc.) While some of this is okay, lesbians are everywhere, and I’d like to see more manga about middle and lower class women falling in love.
Bad end, male interference (if he seems like a real contender), yuri stereotypes, “not crossing the subtext line”, superficial yuri (like Gay for Pay or Gay Until Graduation).
Someone said “finish Sasameki Koto”, which is a fabulous idea. Also, finish Aoi Hana/Sweet Blue Flowers!
Make animations for: Strawberry Shake Sweet, Girlfriends or KTS.
A lot of the manga I read seem to work best as manga.
I’d never heard of Yuri Kuma Arashi, but it looks cute, and I tend to like things that OG recommends. I’ve never seen Kantai Collection, but there’s tons of yuri fanart for it, so… maybe something? Though, they’ll probably make the admiral a man, just like they randomly inserted a dude into the manhwa for Sword Girls.

KanColle has a strong “in the past” feel to it, so it doesn’t make much sense for the admiral not to be male, but it’s already been confirmed he’ll be off-screen all the time, so I don’t think he’ll be that much of a bother.

#1 Acceptable – There’s lots of dojinshi, but not a lot of 12 e. anime series.
#2 There were lots of good ones, but Legally married was hands down the best. I would throw money at Hatishiro all day if I could.
#3 Sakura trick for this year. Though I did watch many older series this year also, but they don’t count 😥
#4 It would be too much of a hassle to do the entire thing, so I’ll just say I like good-ol’ manga, dojinshi and anime series the most+their fanfic spinoffs. Oh oh, and I also love yuri elements in games.
#5 I enjoy the good ‘ol Slice of life stuff the most, because it’s the most chill.
#6 More stories about women in 20’s, not just schoolgirls. “Sexual preference”: how do you even dare ask? Queer or gtfo.
#7 I’m quite cool with most stuff(beggars can’t be choosers), even incest (as long as it’s between girls (thanks Candy boy for making me a weirdo who’s not bothered with incest)). But there is one thing I don’t want in my yuri. Don’t have specific men entangle between the relationships. They can be doctors, fathers, even brothers, as long as it doesn’t lead to (as it often does with brothers for some sick reason) any romance or similar. Romance should be only between girls, and if they are confused about sexuality (“Oh, can two girls really do that with each other?”) than that’s fine, but there can’t be a specific boy a girl is interested it. I hope I made myself clear. + bad endings are not nice either, but it depends on what you mean by bad ending. Sometimes, 2 characters not ending up together is good.
#8 Love live for sure. I might not understand what’s going on with seas. 3, but I won’t stop shipping NozoElii ’till I’m 10ft under. Also, more stuff on Madoka magica would be cool, it’s such a good series. But they are just about the only ones that can get away with it, since romance isn’t their primary genre. In general, if you make romance-centered stories too long, it ends up being a mess no one will like. It’s much better to wrap them up in a satisfying end (and they lived happily ever after). Since most yuri shows are romance driven, it would be a bad idea to continue them. Rather, write a new story, so we end up with more shorter ones, instead of few long ones.
#9 I heard Yuri Kuma Arashi anime could be yuri. But other than that I’m not really aware of anything new coming. Except more Legally married stuff.

I feel it is still to small to warrant many studios attempting anything above the level of Sakura trick in terms of content(i.e. we wont be getting anything like toradora/clannad with lesbians, it will mostly just be slight nods like Hanayamata or strict fanservice like sakura trick)
P.S. I would love to see an anime adaptation of Citrus! It could certainly be gauged on the serious scale up their with series like toradora and clannad.
I can say with certainty that Citrus is by far the finest example of yuri done right this year and frankly in many years.
3.I likely got the most enjoyment this year out of Hamayamata. But it was not necisarrily enjoyable exclusivey based on its yuri content, rather I felt more of a paternal affection towards the characters and thought to myself:”I hope my daughter can be that sweet”.

I dont know how but the numbers are screwed up on mine. I skipped question 4 but left the number and repeated the number 3. So after the first number 3, the numbers 3-7 are actually 5-9. Sorry
