Love Lab Episode 2: The Redhead, Fairy and Demon

With the yuri goggles set on super low from now on, all we can do for the time being is continue hoping for more quality humor. As for my coverage of The Going Home Club, it’s a random nonsense Talk Show Girls’ Club anime so there’s very little to discuss about that show. All you need to know is that I enjoyed episode 2, though not as much as the first episode. Alrighty then, on with Love Lab.

The Fairy's official debutThe episode kicks off with the conclusion of last week’s episode from the Fairy girl’s perspective. Those who have seen the episode know what happened.

Depressed princessSo the princess prefers a direct mockery rather than being mocked from afar. Oh, and her facial expressions are adorable.

Favorite quote of the episode: The “Wi-, Wi-, Wi-, Wi-” chant.

Clearing up thingsRiko quickly clears things up with Suzu The Fairy.

Dutchy is cheating on MakiDutchy is such a sleeze. I so do hope that the dreaded “later events in the manga” aren’t animated in this show’s 12-episode span…or even in the 2nd season. Who the heck wants to see these lovely ladies hook up with generic dorks anyway? Those who do are not welcome here.

Suzu is no longer scaredSuzu calms down and smiles after another hilarious “logic vs self-absorbed fantasy” debate between our heroines.

Lying is badAfter hearing about the “Love Lab Experiment”, Suzu also wishes to be taken under Riko-sensei’s wing, which greatly tortures Riko’s inner psyche.

What it feels like to faintI was very enlightened by this scene.

Exercise 5, the injured maidenWe then proceed to the next experiment: simulating a scenario where a boy would carry a downed girl.

A spyRiko-sensei bestows some “valuable” wisdom upon her students when we suddenly get a glimpse of a spy.

The ojou-sama laughTurns out the spy was working for this sort of awesome redhead ojou-sama with a picture perfect ojou-sama laugh. She’s apparently upset with Maki over losing her kaichou title that she never relinquished.

Sayo, the greedy meganeYes, it was established last week that Sayo here is a greedy treasurer but it’s still funny hearing it from her mouth. Redhead Kaichou wants to reclaim her title but their shouting in the hallway isn’t doing their reelection plan any favors.

I won’t say a word about the “declaration of war” scene because it needs to be seen to be believed.

Next week, it’s war!

In my mind, all anime characters are bi unless otherwise stated. So my approach won’t change much, whatever is to come. But can they really introduce guy characters with better chemistry than what we have now? Especially since this is an all-girls school.

If there is one thing I’ve learned in life so far is that one can never be too careful. So yeah, for now, I know that the only male characters that will appear on the show are Dutchy/Huggy and some random dream dudes. Let’s keep it that way.

another winning episode. Love Lab continues to deliver the LOL comedy. Sayo the greedy megane reminds me of Gloria from Daphne in the Brilliant Blue (an older sci-fi comedy series). They look nothing alike, but they share the common trait of bing “hilariously money-loving”.
