The Mouse conquers The Sith

Well, more like he owns them but you get the point. this has been posted everywhere so I’ll add my two cents.

In case you haven’t heard, Disney has recently bought all rights to Star Wars, ALL RIGHTS to Lucasfilm from George Lucas for 4 Billion Dollars. Kinda weird since they bought Pixar for more than that. Along with this major shocker, an immediate announcement was made that production has begun on Star Wars: Episode 7, which is set for a 2015 release.

I’m honestly fine with this. George has pretty much tarnished the legendary original trilogy (4-6) enough with the unnecessary editing, and most of the prequels are considered blasphemies in the eyes of the fandom. Maybe Disney can take the long anticipated sequel fans have yearned for ages. Either that or they’ll add Star Wars characters to Kingdom Hearts 3 with an epic tag battle between Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine against Master Yoda and King Mickey.

For all the naysayers, keep this in mind. The studios that worked on the majority of terrible direct to video sequels of many Disney Animated classics has closed its doors. Also, while Disney owns a portion of Marvel Studios, they have yet to screw with the source material. In short, lighten up because nothing bad has happened yet, and hopefully won’t. I’m pretty excited for episode 7, it’s definitely better than releasing the Completely Edited Saga…AGAIN, in 3D.

Admit it, you’d pay to either see or play this scenario.

Sir Steven, I like your enthusiasm for yuri and all but there are limits to how high your level of fandom can be. Besides, this is Disney, since when have they been gay-friendly?

You actually found a subtext couple in the Star Wars movies? I’m not counting the Old Republic games.

You are right, its Disney, but one can dream and who knows what 2015 will bring.

Subtext couple huh? I’m not sure off hand if the movies actually had two or more female characters really talk with each other. I honestly don’t know if there is anything subtext or text in any of the Expanded Universe works either.

Setting the Yuri goggles aside, I am optimistic that Disney will be able to do something very interesting, maybe amazing, with Star Wars considering what they have done with the Avengers.

Indeed. Many fans are hoping the story will either expand on the SW mythos or be based around The Old Republic. Either one would be awesome.

I’m not much of a Star Wars fan but I do appreciate the originals more than the remakes and the newer prequel ones. Kingdom hearts is my most favorite console game and it’d be pretty sweet to see them incorporating Star Wars into the game. Hopefully Disney steps up and makes 7 something worth seeing and not some embarrassment like jar jar.
